Last week, I did pretty good.
As my official completion of my first month in New York, I did many adult-like things ranging from callbacks to cocktails.

I got myself on 'the list' for the NewBalance Spring Preview Event. Basically I learned about all the new gear they're putting out, the technology behind it, ate free hors d'oeuvres, and drank a free cocktail. Oh! and got a free 'blender bottle'. Apparently when you say you write for espn.com people treat you good.
The most interesting part of the showroom was a visual metaphor for how the weight of your running shoes can feel after two miles. Apparently, the new NewBalance light shoes feel like, well, shoes. Adidas' feel like 5 cinder blocks. Ascics feel like a Sumo Wrestler. So...yes. There was a Sumo Wrestler there. Just standing. In a Spotlight. The whole time. Fortunately, his back was to a wall, so the most 'precarious' sights were hidden.
There was more free booze to be had at a Calvin Klein Performance-Wear launch at Lord&Taylor. I wasn't there as a legitimate member of the press, just by happenstance. But the free champagne and dance performance were well worth pretending I was going to buy overpriced yoga clothes. I did tell some lady from O Magazine what I wrote about...but based on the number of times she mentioned how cute all the clothes were, I'm not sure she really understood the primary focus of Rise. The week was rounded out with a few more milestones. One was a callback in which I was kept to the end of the day for ensemble tracks on the Wizard of Oz tour. I danced, I harmonized, I partnered, I danced again...I didn't book. Still a good callback though.

I also DID book a very important, very prestigious, very meaningful gig. This Wednesday I will dance on Broadway! Not Broadway the concept or theatrical catagory, but literally the street: Broad Way. 599 other dancers and I will be promoting the new X Box 'Kinect'. Don't worry, they're paying me, so I am selling my soul at least, rather than handing it over for free :)
More to come on THAT in a separate post for sure.
Oh, and I just saw this massive Hello Kitty while on the upper east side. Thought it was worthy of note.
...I added the speech bubble...that wasn't already there.
